Cricut infomation

Cricut is a home die-cutting machine used for scrapbooking. The machine is capable of cutting paper into specific patterns. These can be designs created on a USB connected PC with the Cricut Design Studio software, or can be programmed direct from patterns stored on cartridges. There are over 100 cartridges available.
The original cricut had cutting mats of 6 x 12 inches, the larger Cricut Expressions only allows mats of 12 x 12 and 12 x 24.
Both the Cricut and Cricut Expressions require mats and blades. Blades may be adjusted to cut through various types of paper and even vinyl for home decorating projects.

The cricut machine cuts images using cricut cartridges that have images on them or by using a software called sure cuts a lot.

In it's simplest form you install a cricut cartridge that has fonts and images on it.
You use the keypad to select the height and the dimensions of the object you wish to cut. There is a display panel to help you along the way.

To use the cricut you need to purchase a cricut mat. The mat is sticky. You adhere you paper to the mat and load it into the cricut machine. Press cut and the machine does all the work for you.

If you want to use the cricut design studio software or the sure cuts a lot software you will need a usb cable similiar to the one you use on your printer to connect it to your computer. The cricut design studio software allows more flexibility to layout your design on your computer screen before you cut. To use this software you must own the desired cricut cartridge.
